SAEED IS FREE

For the past three years, this blog has continually beaten the drum* for the release of Saeed Abedini, the Iranian-born American pastor (and citizen) being held, tortured, and deprived of medical attention by the rogue state of Iran. Christians throughout the world, in concert with such organizations as Franklin Graham's Samaritan's Purse and the American Center for Law and Justice, have prayed, fasted, and petitioned Congress and various national governments to intercede on Saeed's behalf.

Tonight, by the grace and mercy of God, and with no thanks to his Mohammedan captors, he is free, and will soon return to his wife and two small children in America. O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy (Psalm 107:1, 2).  We can now remove the "Free Saeed" banner from the margin of this blog, and we praise God for the opportunity to do so!

Saeed was imprisoned by the Mohammedans on September 26, 2012.  After three years of feckless and treacherous inactivity on the part of the Obama administration, the current President, in his zeal to curry favor with his Iranian masters, has now struck a deal in which Saeed and four other hostages will be returned, in exchange for seven Iranian prisoners.  It is a national disgrace that the current President waited until his final year in office to lift a finger to help Saeed, but God is not bound by the apathy and perfidy of human politicians.

Saeed has spent over three years living under conditions that are probably as close to Hell as a person can come on this earth.  But now, as he prepares to return home, he joins the ranks of Joseph, Daniel, the Apostles Paul and Peter, and so many others who have been delivered from the tortures and fetters of God's enemies.  As we praise God for inclining His ear to our prayers, and for His mercy to our brother, we must redouble our prayers for other Christians imprisoned and slaughtered throughout the world, primarily (though not exclusively) at the hands of the followers of Muhammad.

Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness,
and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
(Psalm 107:8)
